It is to create offspring.
It is to have fun. The fastest path to no longer having fun: having offspring. Having offspring is not "our" main purpose, as it is not one of my purposes at all.

I agree that it is great... and I don't give a damn if it continues a species or not.
Infact, I would like to eradicate a solid number of species... mosquitos and other bugs and creepy crawlies and birds can all go extinct, and I would like them to do so.
