The way it's been going and why the tax burden has shifted. Politicians(usually mostly Republicans) We want to lower taxes for everyone(not technically a lie)
Middle class and poor: Ok, as long as we get a tax cut.
Congress proceeds to cut taxes for the poor and middle class by 10 cents for every dollar it gives to the wealthy.
Repeat that 10 times.
