Let's summarize the "wall" issue. This is how I understand it and please correct me if I'm wrong: nobody wants people going over the border unchecked anywhere in the world, hence passports, borders and border patrols, visas etc. Obama also didn't want people illegally passing by and that's why there was like $3 billion invested annually in detention centers and Obama deported many people, actually more than any other president and hence he got a nickname Deporter in Chief.
Then comes Trump. He claims there is no supervision what so ever on Mexican border and that useless and extremely expensive wall needs to be built. As it is expensive people bring this issue to Trump during the campaign and he says that "Mexico will pay for it" to which all normal people call on Trump that he is lying to which his supporters then channel to him and he says that he has a plan to make Mexico pay for it since he is a businessman. Normal people insist that he is full of shit but his supporters believe him and he wins the election because of the wall and some other things.
Now that it turns out that Trump is indeed full of shit and he can't make Mexico pay for it, his supporters and him, instead of admitting that Trump is a liar, start blaming whole thing on democrats that they don't want any supervision on the border and that they actually want millions of Mexicans to enter illegally to bring in drugs, vote for Hillary (or any democrat that will run against Donald), bring down Christianity and put Satan in charge of the world.
Now why they believe Donald that there is no supervision on the border? I'm not sure. Maybe because these conservatives believe Trump more because he is white.
Of course Trump wants to renegotiation NAFTA and to be honest I did hear that NAFTA hauled many Mexicans to US looking for jobs since NAFTA has devastated local communities and the Mexican corn industry. But that's another topic.
