Trump administration backs Asian-American students in Harvard admissions lawsuit

RE: Trump administration backs Asian-American students in Harvard admissions lawsuit
It would be all gravy if all high schools in America gave students the same opportunities. If not for affirmative action, many kids that have decent grades but lower standardized test scores would never have a chance at getting admission to these schools. It's not because they didn't study hard enough, and it's not because they didn't try hard enough. They literally are going to school in inner city Chicago and have to take care of their three siblings because their parents work two shifts, not to mention deal with gang violence where they live.

Those people deserve not to be measured directly against a kid like me who grew up in Altamonte Springs, Fl, and went to a high school that paid for AP exams and was focused on college prep.

Having a more racially diverse student body is good for colleges and their students. They may need to adjust their admissions process, but in general, giving people opportunities should take into account their background and the level of opportunity they have had available to them. Deserving to be admitted to a college is not all about test scores and GPA.
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great
