Good point Khem but not all people are that stupid and not all theists are religious.
Most people who follow a religion do so because they born in a situation where religion rule especially in Islam.
Although theists are big in number real theists are small in number.
Atheism on the other hand grow as materialism grow and this as the article say is also due to the fact that in rich countries there is less economic distress.
That however doesn't mean that in this case people are smarter.
To be smart you got to be intelligent and intelligence involve that you make the best choice which of course has zero to do with being an atheist or not.
