Good point Khem but not all people are that stupid and not all theists are religious.

Most people who follow a religion do so because they born in a situation where religion rule especially in Islam.
Although theists are big in number real theists are small in number.
Atheism on the other hand grow as materialism grow and this as the article say is also due to the fact that in rich countries there is less economic distress.
That however doesn't mean that in this case people are smarter.
To be smart you got to be intelligent and intelligence involve that you make the best choice which of course has zero to do with being an atheist or not.  Lightbulb

Little Rik, noted expert on things, opining on them.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Is that what the body of the faithful are complaining about as their churches empty?  A harmful excess of humility?

Also known as humility.

It's also known as make believe. For some, that increases hope.

Make believe is what kids do for fun.  Desperation is what adults do when they have no other recourse. This behavior has been known and exploited in christianity prior to it's calcification into a single religion, but..as has been noted since we've been talking notes, the efficacy of the con is also it's flaw. Beliefs that depend on desperation and the delivery of intangibles can't survive without that deceit, but they also fail because of it, in multiple senses.

Evidently there are meanings to the word 'humble' I haven't previously encountered.
Christians claim, via pray, to have one on one communication with the creator of the universe. That's humility is it?
It's amazing 'science' always seems to 'find' whatever it is funded for, and never the oppsite. Drich.
