I went to a Protestant Pentecostal school. They literally taught - in "science" class - that dinosaur fossils were planted by demon scientists to deceive the faithful.
These schools are still operating and many are still teaching that same . . . dogma. I live in a major US city in the Midwest, and there are 6 such schools within a 1/2 hour drive of my house.
The Pentecostal Fundamentalists are on the fringes, but they are still an influential segment of the population. They demonize scientists, deny climate change, and anything that disagrees with (their interpretation of) the Bible is literally Satanic. Many believe the Rapture will happen in their lifetime and pray for the end of the world.
