The Last Movie You Watched

Watched Coco a couple days ago, and it's an excellent film. I can only think of a few flaws:

• The color scheme, especially for the Land of the Dead scenes is pretty damn gaudy. At this point, I think it's reasonable to attribute my distaste for the loud colors (shockingly close to Problem Solverz levels) is at least partly due to my being a Gringo with different expectations on what color schemes should be. 
  
• The extremely detailed wrinkles on Grandma Coco are downright unnerving.
  
• And related to the big twist at the end:

• Ernesto's decision to kill Hector was astonishingly stupid. Even if he was going to leave the partnership, could Ernesto not have just found someone else to write his songs? Even Elvis had multiple songwriters whose work he could take credit for.
  
• How likely is it that Hector ended up in such obscurity that, 95 years after his death, only his dementia-addled daughter remembered who he was? Surely if Ernesto de la Cruz was as popular as he was, there'd be at least some superfan who found something about him or maybe managed to have some sort of idea of who he even was. They may have been obsessees, small fish in the big fandom pond, but that should be something. Given all the minutiae I've managed to pick up on the Beatles over the past 18 years, I suspect that someone of de la Cruz' stature would have found something to remember him for.
  
• The Mexican people seem to be shockingly quick to dismiss de la Cruz' stature after Miguel returns from the dead to expose him as a fraud. It doesn't help that I know Kenneth Anger sourced many of the more salacious points of Hollywood Babylon from seances (because he outright said so), and that he's been criticised to Thelema and back for it (especially when the details gleamed from the seances turned out to be wrong, like the bit about Marie Prevost's body being partially eaten by her pet dog, Lupe Velez drowning in her own vomit with her head in the toilet, or Clara Bow fucking the entire USC football team.)

Other than that, it's one of the best films of last year, and it's no wonder that it became the top-grossing film in Mexican history after 2 1/2 weeks. And it's certainly interesting to see Gael Garcia Bernal as a voice actor.
