If you leave the format as it would be for a regular thread, the actual blog posts might get lost between comments. So, the general structure of the individual blogs, would have to look much different than the rest of the forum.
But I love the idea. I'm in support of something like this.
This is it totally. The comments would appear under the blog not to distract the blog. The blogger can choose to reply or not, but of course, discretion on the part of commenters should be taken into consideration. A blog isn’t a debate or even a discussion. It’s a diary of thoughts and it can be about your job, relationships, money, loss, religion etc whatever is on your mind.
Of course the same rules for posting blogs apply in terms of content. It isn’t to compete with the civility subsection, because that section would still be for discussion and debate. But I like blogs, they are cathartic imo.

and if we were happy to pay for a blog, there's already thousands of them out there for you to go.
The free ones comes with catches ... usually advertising or piggybacking of their hostname, etc. It's all a form of advertising.
sorry...
But by all means, it doesn't hurt to dream, right?
(I'd love to eat my words btw. Sick of spinach!)
I know the blogs you’re talking about and this would be way different.
Or you could have it like religious forums does it, a subsection called “blogs” and people post their blog as individual threads but that can get messy.

The blog doesn't have to be spiritual/religious in nature, it can be about anything. It would be YOUR blog. You can post anything you like, within the forum guidelines, artwork...or a song. Or random thoughts on politics, etc. It would be your own space, but others can comment.
The blog/journal is more of a personalized thing. Threads aren’t started here to just serve as ongoing journals of people’s lives. The site would be cluttered with random threads and it wouldn’t be organized.
