I highly recommend a book to you, "Christianity is Not Great" an anthology edited by John Loftus.  Chapter 7 is entitled:  They Will Make Good Slaves And Christians - Christianity, Colonialism and the Destruction of Indigenous Peoples.

Whatever threat Islam presents in the twenty-first century pales by comparison to the rampage of Christianity around the globe over the past five hundred years. Admittedly, Christian Europe and the United States were not the first to fight wars, found colonies, and build empires. However, Christendom did so on a scale previously unknown and likely never to be known again. In the process, populations were decimated, cultures destroyed, and entire societies exterminated; the survivors were usually left in abject conditions, sick, poor, and restricted to marginal areas. All of this conquest was done by Christians, much of it in the name of Christianity.
