Islamic expansions didn't match the brutality of Christian expansions;

Actually, there is much truth in that as noted in a book called The Early History of Christianity by J. P. Jenkins.  I doubt Atlas would agree with the reason for it but the initial expansion of what later became the Islamic Empire - for want of a better word - was not accompanied by wholesale slaughter and forced conversion.

That came much later.
