There you go again, quoting a book that I think is fiction. There are a lot of things worse than hate.
Quote:The this guy you refer to will never torture you, you are making your own sentence as you go through each day and the only way you can escape what you have already made is through acceptance of Christ and the grace of God unto forgiveness.
It is impossible for me to "accept Christ," and this is why:
- I do not think that the Jesus of the Gospels was a real person; at best, it's a heavily mythologized account of a small-time cult leader in Roman-occupied Judea, but the Jesus character could also be entirely fictional.
- I think the idea of people coming back from the dead is utterly ridiculous.
- I see the concept of substitutionary atonement as unspeakably vile, a colossal miscarriage of justice. I also see acceptance of the alleged sacrifice of Jesus as a moral abomination, a despicable act of cowardice. If there were actually a "mark of the Beast," it would be saying the Sinner's Prayer and meaning it.
- Speaking of "meaning it," I seem to be neurologically incapable of developing religious belief, and feigning it in the sense of "fake it till you make it" simply will not work. I can neither develop nor sustain belief in things that I think are absurd, and this whole "accept Jesus or go to hell" business is the quintessence of absurdity.
