I bet the last straw for God was menstruating women not even thinking about their curse and trying to get in HIs temples when they were on the rag.  Outrageous women had to be reminded about that offensive conduct and to cease and desist.
 The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
