Then again, it's been a rough going for the dems lately.

How so?

So, if they do decide to hold up a SCOTUS nominee it would make for good GOP campaign fodder to further paint the picture that the dems are obstructionists.

Republicans control all three branches of government. Voting against something is not obstructionism. Even if it were, Democrats can't possibly obstruct unless they get Republican help.

If you want to see obstructionism, how about the last (Republican) Senate not doing their job by refusing to consider Obama's court nominees? This is literally the job of the Senate, and they refused to even hold votes.

For one, the Dems definitely had a big edge over the zero tolerance policy which separated children from their illegal immigrant parents. Then zealots on the far left totally blew it for the Dems when they began to mob and harass Trump Cabinet members in public. Maxine Waters and Peter Fonda only added fuel to that fire and Trump's poll numbers have been on the rise. Last night's NY dem primary had a young socialist community organizer unseat a long time House dem. So not a good time for the Dems.

For the second part, voters have short term memories....and too bad for Hillary she didn't make that a campaign issue. I think if GOP candidates will campaign how that Dems opposed the tax cuts and how that Dems have said they will resist Trump and the GOP, ....so now, more than likely, they'll try to obstruct a SCOTUS nominee. The Dems have no message going into the midterms other than resist Trump.
