Worst case scenario is all Republicans and the red-state Democrats vote to approve the nomination.
Best case scenario is the Democrats stick together and Collins and Murkowski jump ship because of the choice issue and Trump does what Obama refused to do and appoints his pick anyway.
IOW, I don't think there's any positive outcome in this situation.
That's not to say that I think people should stop protesting the situation or stop pointing out Republican hypocrisy about the "no appointments in a voting year" issue. They changed the rules, they have the responsibility to follow those new rules. But they won't.
