He totally did.
As I said elsewhere, he's written over 93 peer-reviewed articles to his name, a little less than 4949 citations in 3713 documents, and an h-index of 39 (note: 20 is good, 40 is outstanding, and 60 is exceptional Admittedly, that's for 20 years and he's been publishing for almost 30 years, so maybe it's closer to good. Of course, 84% of Nobel winners have an H-score above 30, according to the source). In 1992, he did his thesis on Cognitive dysfunction and the inherited predisposition to alcoholism and it's been cited in 93 different papers.
That said, his new fans don't care about what he has to say about the Big Five personality traits, or his studies of peoples' relationships with reading, or creative achievement, or even the early stuff that focused on alcoholism, they just applaud him for telling them what they want to hear and giving them an air of mainstream respectability.
Really, he's the philosophy department version of Jerry Smith in this episode of Rick and Morty:
Except, in this case, he actually does have a little background in the subject at hand.
I see, thank you. This explains the polarizing opinions that are going on here. I can understand how a fan of his former work could find it unthinkable that he's written a book full of trash and has been acting like a jackass lately. I hope he finds the money was worth his intellectual soul.
(Haha, I love Rick and Morty!)
