Anyone have a number for how many times it got returned to the store after the buyer actually looked at the track listing and figured out "Hotel California" isn't on it?
That's because if any Eagles fan was paying attention, they would know that Hotel California wasn't released until December 1976, therefore logically, it shouldn't be included on that album anyway.
That I know. However, I know that there are some casual fans who don't know the chronology and I suspect that some people just picked it up, sight unseen, and picked it up without bothering to even look at the back cover.
I can remember my mother once buying a copy of Queen's Greatest Hits (the 1992 version with the red cover) and not knowing until she listened to it that it didn't include "Bohemian Rhapsody" (because, for reasons that are fucking stupid, Hollywood Records decided to expand the original Greatest Hits, but decided to split it into two CDs available separately, but not together, taking all the disadvantages of single-disc and double-disc greatest hits compilations, and none of the strengths except, well, the music is good, and it makes them a shit-ton of money now that Freddie Mercury's dead and Wayne's World revived interest in the band, with 23 million copies sold between the two of them.)
Comparing the Universal Oneness of All Life to Yo Mama since 2010.
