It's not just a hobby, it's not just for personal protection, it's a lifestyle. That's why the response to gun control is so visceral. They view it as a threat to their very being. And, as we've repeatedly seen, it's trivially easy to manipulate those people.
My cousins are living for the day when they will be of some value. This will involve them being The Good Guy With A Gun (TGGWAG) that saves a whole elementary school full of children from some deranged Obama voter.
