Didn't the putative Jesus call the people his flock? The sheep analogy serves double duty in this sense. I guess when ne has enough invested in the religion, one doesn't want to cause waves. Inasmuch as I am no longer a member of the RCC, my voicing outrage would do little, since the laity has been told "silence and prayers" and dare not raise their heads from the grass.
