I don't think anyone would want to waste their precious time worshiping praying, or pretending to be a good little Christian if they were not so fearful and brainwashed.

Any God worth it's salt wouldn't need scare tactics.

It's interesting that I've asked this question of Christian proselytizers more times than I can remember over the past four decades: "If everything that you claim about God and Christianity is so true and so convincing, why do you have to back it up with a threat?" In all that time, I have yet to receive an answer, with the exception of the occasional denial that, "You're going to Hell!" is a threat.

Once you’ve threatened someone with torture, you’ve pretty much played all your cards. Or rather, you’ve thrown them all on the table angrily.

It is really sad to me how such blatant threats have become socially acceptable. Mind you, they wouldn’t be in England. You’d be considered seriously fucked up if you started saying that to people here.
