The islamist basket is large, with lots of room for disparate sectarian ideologies. You idea of what is being referred to as islamism is ridiculous. If I wanted to call you a terrorist, I'd call you a terrorist. Obviously, not all islamists are terrorists, lol.
On the issue at hand, though...for the US..it's not much more than embarrassing for the current administration. That's all that we're reaping, regardless of what we may have sown. That's sort of fundamental to why it's a fucked up situation, or at least from this end it is. On this end, the "problem" is that the president is incompetent or conflicted..and because of this, botched his response.
