There was a similar remark made in an article I read about Republicans switching their prior rhetoric to embrace protections for people with pre-existing conditions. Christianity has long embraced rather despicable things, so it's at least a good thing that there is a sea change in the basic values of evangelicals, even if it runs contrary to the official doctrines. This can only foreshadow greater wins among the "nones" as evangelicals come to realize the disconnect between their religion and their values.
