7. consumed Enid Blyton' books a lot as a child (she's a British author), and so I often use British sounding phrases when writing.
I wonder if anyone else does that. When I was in high school I started reading William F Buckley Jr., but not because I have any conservative inclinations. Nope, I just liked his linguistic style. He is one of the writers I've mimicked. Kant was another, I'm sure there are still people I should apologize to for subjecting them to it. I might also have lifted parts of my sense of humor from Gerry Durrell. I think I've read everything he wrote, the three autobiographical ones from his childhood on Corfu are the best but they all make me laugh hard at some points.
