Christ is the title, yeah. But that's besides the point. The point is that one passage in the Bible, which Huggy himself adheres to, clearly supports the practice of baptism in the "name" of the Trinity. And yet, Huggy sees it fit to reprimand other Christians for following that passage.
But it doesn't support it at all, what you and everyone that thinks that scripture supports scripture are grossly misinterpreting it...
If i asked you for instance, to sign a contract in my name, are you literally going to sign it 'my name', or are you going to use my ACTUAL name?
The fact that Jesus was God in human flesh was a MYSTERY, people wanted to kill Jesus for saying he was the Son of God, let alone God.
Quote:The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. - John 10:33Yet when he asked Peter for his thoughts on who he was and Peter stated that 'he was the Christ, Son of the living God', Jesus basically stated that knowledge of who he was could only be obtained directly from God REVEALING it to him.
Only something that is hidden need be revealed...
Hence Jesus said to Peter "upon this rock (the revelation of who he is) will I build my church". Then Jesus grants Peter the keys to the kingdom of heaven.
Quote:Matthew 16*emphasis mine*
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.
Do you think Jesus gave Peter a literal key to heaven? if not why do you think by saying to baptize in the name of "Father, Son and Holy Spirit" he literally meant 'Father, Son, and Holy Spirit'?
When the people asked Peter what they must do to be saved, Peter having the key to heaven unlocked it by commanding them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.
Quote:Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. - Acts 2:38
Quote:Acts 4*emphasis mine*
10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
It states explicitly that there is no other name save the name of Jesus Christ, where anyone can be saved, THIS INCLUDES the titles of father, son, and holy spirit.
