If its our brain that perceives it with physical backing, then we are the perceivers and judges, but we know we aren't perfect judges to who we are nor are the perfect measurers to all actions we've done, hence we would be an illusion in that case. So if neither us or brain can maintain and perceive who we are, then what can?
