Ok you've already made your first mistakes. No, most atheists are not miserable, nor do we assert that there is no God. We don't think there is reasonable evidence to believe in a God. There is a difference, and honestly the first thing you should do is recognise that difference. We do not assert that there definitely is no God, for the most part.
There's a thread that never really got off the ground about the afterlife etc in the Christian forum. I'd be happy to explain why I am perfectly content with one life, and have no desire to live beyond this one if you would like. But you're going to have to change your attitude really quickly.
