Wrong. I as an atheist have never claimed that a god or gods don't exist. I have simply rejected the claim theists have put forth. You say there is a god and I'm saying I don't believe you.

An atheist is one who is without belief in a god or gods. One who does not believe. There are agnostic atheists (like myself) then there are gnostic atheists who assert that there is no god.
