If properly fitted the bullet will not make contact with the unit, but should pass through clean.
It will only affect a bullet' s path if it improperly fitted and the bullet makes contact - becoming essentially a ricochet..
Alignment is important. That's why I have a couple different sizes of alignment rods to check that kind of stuff. Supposed to be straight to within 1/1000" over 12". Baffle design is important too. Poor baffle design can cause enough turbulence to change a bullet's flight path and cause a strike. I compensate with an oversize bore. The one pictured above has a .280 bore. Gives me a lot more clearance than the .25" bore a lot of people use. Of course all else being equal a .25" bore would be quieter than a .28" bore...
