I agree with OP. Once you start asking the hard questions many believers get angry.
As someone who once believed, I can assure you that you will never understand their logic, because there is none. In order to believe in God and in a religion, you need to ignore many contradictions, which most of the time means " I do not know the answer, but I know there is one because God exists, so its okay".
I only discuss about religion with a few believers who are close to me and I know wont get angry. Otherwise, I never do.
