When it comes to this trilogy why even bother watching considering that the "Empire" is again as big as in previous movies - as if those movies didn't affect them at all. So even if good wins this time what is stopping the "empire" to just appear again without any explanation?
And when it comes to The Last Jedi, in particular, imagine what this movie could have been about, like they could have explored perhaps the origins of the force; first Jedis; answer what the heck are Siths and thoroughly explore the SW mythology - and isn't that what they should be doing in supposedly penultimate SW movie? If not now then when?
But no. It rather seems like the makers of that movie were not interested of continuing the story but the business side of the movie: like "it's so trendy to make movies in Dubrovnik so we have to make at least part of the movie there" and also obliging actors contracts, thus filling the movie with pointless action adventures for which nobody cared. I mean, for starters, why did they even look for Luke in TFA considering that he practically played no role in TLJ? I mean he fought Kylo, but for what? So that those other people can escape through the other side.
And the worst thing is that they know that the audience wants to see the stuff I mentioned earlier (like exploring SW mythology) because they featured in the trailer the scene of a first Jedi temple - but that was just that. It was only for a trailer. Just like the dead Ewoks and the Knights of Ren.
I mean I really don't understand. Are they that retarded that they're leading on audience like that or is it just greed because at the time the director of TLJ also planned another trilogy so he didn't want to "waste material"?

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
