In a way bad Star Wars movies are doing a lot of people a favor. I mean back when "Phantom Menace" came out it got a lot of people out who were in a way hypnotized by Star Wars - like people are with religion - to get out of it and stop spending their time and money on it. For instance you can see a documentary on YouTube called "Fandom Menace" that was made at that time by a fan who was also a president of fan club of Australia. He had a lot of toys, spent a lot of time on SW - for instance just before FM projection in cinema he even read a letter out loud from George Lucas himself, and when he finally saw a movie he totally snapped out of his SW obsession, but not immediately because he first defended Jar Jar (that is that hypnosis I was talking about).
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
