Well... other than the thrusters (Where ever they were) which contain and direct enough energy to actually MOVE the beasty.
The honking big cannon barrel would be stressed to hold and direct enough energy to destroy an entire planet in one hit.
Plus, in Rouge One, we see the cannon being installed as a single prefabbed peice. What goes in might just get blown out.
So that bit makes sense to be built... well... really well built.
