Every Christian's wet dream is to hear the words, "Deny Christ or I'll pull the trigger."  They get spiritual erections from being persecuted.

So no, they don't think their rapist deity is protecting them from physical harm.

And if the history of the Roman Empire is any judge 99 out of every hundred would deny him. Most christians, when brought up on civil charges of not sacrificing to the Emperor (they didn't even have to deny Jesus, or do anything to show they were being sincere {there are records of Roman magistrates being perfectly happy with an obviously insincere declaration of faith}), went ahead and fondled some chicken gizzards.

I wouldn't say "every". Most "Christians" are just saying the right thing when they're pressed.

When I was young, I used to press wild flowers and stick them in my Nature book and write about them.  Of course, that was back then when there were some actual wild flowers still growing in the fields.

I didn't know that one could press christards too.
