Who here in this thread is saying such things about athiests? I know there are good-hearted atheists who behave much better than "muslims" (I put them in quotes because they perform hypocritical actions without realizing it).
Now in relation to this thread, I just see a poster here...claiming a terrorist leader being the true leader of Islam. This is ignorance, not knowing that there were Muslim nations fighting them for years--long before US came to Afghanistan. And if some of the more intelligent atheist posters here aren't going to point this stuff out--you're just letting the hatred propaganda being spread around. Just like the Aryan Germans standing idly by while the jews were being targeted.
Secondly in relation to fundamental differences between Islam and atheism. Islam is oppose to relative morality. Atheism is relative and based on social standards. There is no set of morals to work with. I know you think that murdering is wrong... but on what basis are you justify that from?
For example, in the roman empire...where having lions kill non-roman citizens in the Colosseum was seen as normal and just entertainment. If you and your friends go back to that time and tell the people it's wrong.... they will all look at you cross-eyed and call you guys disillusion and dismiss you. Then with the good-heart that you guys have, you all spread around and try to convince the community that the non-roman murdering is wrong and not entertaining. Some roman citizens start to agree with you and they stop going to the Colosseum. Eventually the government officials in charge of the Colosseum notice a drastic shortage in revenue...and investigate on what the problem is. They eventually realize it is you and your friends that spread this message on "non-roman murder is wrong" and they will start targeting you and convince the roman citizens how bad your group is.
Islam is in the same situation. In today highly liberal society that focuses on glitz, glamor and short-term profits....if people are to be raised very conservatively like Muslims, it will be very hard to make a profit when the economy is based on debt, speculation and a game of confidence. I gave many examples in the past how the fashion industry, the brewery industry, the financial (debt-based) industry, the big-arga/pharma industry, the night club services, divorce-legal services...etc. can't make a dime from truly devout Muslims. It's only natural to target this group...so these industries can generate more income from ex-muslims and/or prevent other people to follow it. There are major problems with secular societies...even though most people don't realize it right now.
