False. Many if not most atheists used to BE people of faith. You have no clue what you are talking about. Many atheists GRIEVE their loss of faith and community, family ties and allit means to not be a person of faith. They WANT to believe. They are too intellectually honest to buy into the bullshit.
Quote:Thought experiment, to prove what I say is true. How many of you join christian websites play with in their rules to be one of maybe 5 atheists and with in their rule set oppose each and every question statement of faith or comment they make using the very bible they use to make those assertions?
Ridiculous. These forums are on-line communities. It has nothing to do with your childish "questions and paradoxes", Bible thumping, and arguing. You fundamentally misunderstand these forums. Why would anyone do as you say. If they want to believe, it's their problem. You are doing no one, any favor, coming here. Your understanding of Christianity is childish, and grade-schoolish. You're an expert on nothing. Your thought experiment reveals where you are coming from. "Using the Bible" as a tool for argument is bullshit. The Bible is a collection of Near Eastern texts, written for religious reasons, NEVER intended for "debate" topics. When it was written, 95 % of the population was illiterate, and they never ever "read the Bible". For almost all of its history, in ancient Israel, the text played NO PART in Jewish life. Most of Hebrew history, there was no Bible. They didn't even have a copy of any of its parts. Same was true for the NT, and until the Reformation and printing press, they also NEVER read any such thing, (the Bible). They didn't have one, couldn't read, and couldn't afford one. Modern Fundamentalists with no basic education, such as yourself, using the Bible as an "arguing tool" have bastardized what these texts are, and why they were written.
Every religion is true one way or another. It is true when understood metaphorically. But when it gets stuck in its own metaphors, interpreting them as facts, then you are in trouble. - Joseph Campbell
