Your whataboutism was evident in every line of your reply to Brian. Instead of addressing what that dimwitted pol actually said (other than calling it hyperbole, with no basis to do so),

all you really had to say boiled down to, 'You should point out that other people do the same thing', which is the essence of whataboutism.

And so you are making my point about the state of america.  When I said that my point in pointing out that liberals do the same thing was not to excuse the conservative that said something, you told me that I was wrong and that I really did mean to use whataboutism when that was not my intent.  

This is why I said that we need more grace for others and allow people to clarify or retract statements they make in which they did not mean, we refuse to do that for people we disagree with.

1.  Well, that's valid - the person that said it said it was hyperbole.  It couldn't be that he said it without thinking and is too ashamed to admit  that he made a stupid, hypocritical remark.

2.  If Senator Slugnutty opts to retract his statement and say that higher education is not the breeding ground of liberal thinking, I'll be happy to listen.
