It's simple: it's Trump's party now. He's the leader of the party. He says jump, they'll say "how high?"
Of course, after he's been out of office for a while, those same republicans will all insist they hated Trump right from the start. After all, look at how they talk about Dubya: they cheered on his invasion of Iraq and they rubber stamped his bailouts, but now they insist those were both terrible mistakes.
