To be accurate, I am not talking about ms. Thunberg.
Also to be accurate, while the boat of productive technological industrial society might be leaking, if we use leak as metaphor for environmental degradation, the water is not quite up to your chin nor is the boat truly in danger of imminently sinking, at least not directly due to the leak. Encouraging people to jump overboard instead of repairing the leak by telling how wicked the boat had been all along does not in fact improve your chances of survival.
If you jump overboard, there is no other rescue boat coming, nor are you close to the shore.

I don't know if you are aware of it but that is the primary safety rule when a ship is sinking. Until all options are exhausted the ship is the safest place, the part about captain orders is not relevant here.
