Even if you want to believe that the men who wrote the books were inspired by a god, this god makes it clear he doesn't really give a shit about Humans. Most of his interactions with them were killing them, threatening to kill them, or sending other Humans to kill them. He puts up a nice act with his son that may just be him in Human form, but even that has issues. I'd say most of the salvageable things are found in the new testament, but even Jesus said some wrong things here and there.
