Being an asshole didn't give Martin the right to physically assault Zimmerman.
As far as Zimmerman's reason for questioning Martin - I don' t know. I do know it was a gated community - this wasn't on a city street. Did Zimmerman know all the residents? Was it a retirement community where younger people stiod out?

The one fact that stands out is the forenic evidence the ME presented.
Martin started the physical altercation. That makes him the aggressor - not the victim.
That's how the law reads.
It's like being on a merry-go-round with you. I've already said why. He was told not to follow the kid by a 9-1-1 operator, who likely knew stalking someone escalates problems. Being an asshole, in some cases, absolutely does give you the right to hit someone, as demonstrated multiple times in this thread. Moreover, we don't know what Zimmerman said to Martin or if he swung first. No idea. If Zimmerman didn't get out of his truck, a young man would still be alive today. But, he did get out of his truck with an already hostile opinion of a boy who was just walking home from the store.
The attitude of some gun owners is fucking ridiculous. You don't get to strut around stalking people just because you've got an iron replacement for your dick in your pocket. If anything, you should be more careful, less confrontational, etc. Fucking around means someone dies, so don't fuck around.
