It seems the EU has been closing the old Soviet plants, though the respective governments chose to delay closures till the EU had increased payments.
Lithuania (RBMK) agreed to close 1998, actually closed 2009.
Bulgaria (VVER 440) agreed to close 1998, actually closed 2006.
Hungary (VVER 440) Still operating, suffered two Level 1 events 2005 & 2012, Level 2 event 2009, Level 3 event 2003 - 'potential criticality event'.
Czech Rep. (VVER 440) Intends to continue operation till 2035.
Slovakia (VVER 440) 2 decommissioned, 4 still operating and 2 under construction. Yep they're actually building more of these things...
