Plantinga's "Free Will" defense contradicts Christianity
#48
RE: Plantinga's "Free Will" defense contradicts Christianity
I most certainly does matter, to the great many christians who have a different take on christianity than you.

Moral knowledge is commonly seen as a precondition for moral responsibility. If human beings lacked moral knowledge prior to eating the fruit, it is difficult to justify the subsequent consequence. Not wanting to die isn't moral knowledge by anyone's reckoning. Sure, it's probably enough to keep you and I from doing something...but it didn't stop Eve.

Here's something to consider. Would greater honesty on gods part have stopped Eve? God told his two pets that they would die, but I don't recall him ever laying out the hundreds of thousands of years of pain and misery that would have to follow. Not just hers, but her childrens, and her childrens childrens children..so on and so forth until a literal end of days. Whatever we knew and didn't know before we ate the fruit, we don't seem to have been as completely informed as we might have wanted to be.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
