I'm sure the LAPD would see to it he got a visa to work for them.
I used to go to LA regularly when I was hunting deserters for the Navy. I had dinner with many a cop and his family. Out of the hundreds I met over the years I found a few that weren't particularly angelic. But most of them were plain folks doing a job they felt was important. Like me in the Navy, they sure weren't doing it for the money.
I understand the point you are making about many cops just doing a job ( whether thinking it important or not ). I am no anarchist and accept that law enforcement is necessary to protect society from the lawless.
The big problem with the police is that they are simply a tool used by the Establishment to ensure the status quo prevails. Thus, when social unrest is in motion, their orders are to stamp it out or just allow token protest to go ahead. I have been on many demos and seen them at work. At worst, they are pretty terrifying. I have also come across police who were very uncomfortable doing what they were asked to do.
It is a big, big problem to those who long for change.
I hope that when a revolution of sorts materialises, the " good cops " will throw down their weapons of repression and join the uprising.
