So how come it is that every atheist I've known is a person of integrity and compassion while most Christians I've known are lying scumbags, disloyal unloving people, snotty bigots, narcissistic assholes or any combination thereof? Even prior to my interest in religion, I'd observed that the most staunch Christians were the most miserable excuses for human beings. At the time I'd hypothesized that they give all their love to Jesus and have none leftover for anyone else.
I have thought that myself, and I think I have a good answer for it.
belief in Hell.
Believing that people who do not belive the same as you deserve to be tortured in fire for all eternity speaks volumes of the hiden, inner scum surrounding the thoughts of the one holding said beliefs.
did they believe in Hell because their parents told them? then carelessness.
did they not think it through? then again, i say carelessness for others and theirselves.
Did they think it through and decide it was a good idea? then what other horrors are they willing to unleash on their fellow humans in the here and now?
