Mildly interesting side note: The term 'Patient Zero' is a based on a mistake. A CDC study in the 80s referred to an HIV patient as 'patient O' for 'Out of California'. The letter O was misread as a 0.
Too late to fix it now, but the correct term is 'index case'.
