-as for the other high profile example..we don't really have to pick two, but the cops did assault the home of a sleeping couple looking for someone who didn't live there and wound up killing someone who did. Then they tried to charge the survivor with assault and attempted murder. Or maybe the bbq guy who got shot and left in the street for dead in the parking lot of his own business?
I know, hard to keep track with us anymore.
As for focusing on cops..well..just doing their jobs - which this example probably isn't a good example of....
It's unremarkable and irrelevant, particularly now. When the guy at rotten rons spits in your burger, the fact that the last guy made it how you ordered it serves very little purpose beyond deflection for the event that is..or at least should be...remarkable. Decency doesn't cost extra and it's not a privilege, it's the baseline expectation - and our right. Every single time.
