I'll take a road trip in a car, drive 24 hours straight and enjoy it. Bugs in my teeth, tangled hair, and roaring exhaust pipes have never appealed to me.
I regularly used to ride my bike between Melbourne and Sydney when I was going to uni. So often, in fact, that I became quite well known at the petrol station/stop off that I used as a pitstop for my journeys.
But, honestly, one if the great joys I have is jumping in my car and taking it on the open road. Last major road trip was to Darwin and back.
