Then why did the spikes in gun sales and background checks coincide with the COVID-19 measures? Could it possibly be because of the fantasy of hordes of post-apocalyptic looters running amok and trying to take your stuff? Yes, it’s an unsubstantiated conclusion, but not an unreasonable one.
As to the parking lot shooter, the article says the vehicles were 10-15 feet apart, and he was walking towards the woman’s car. It seems like if he wanted to kill her and her daughter, he would have done so. Either way, it’s yet more good evidence that not everyone should be allowed firearms.
