Do you think it might have something to do with those $1200 cheques that Trump was tossing about like party favors?
And the fact that all the gun stores stayed open as "essential businesses" while so many other stores had closed?
Perhaps you are right about first time gun buyers. But most of the gun owners I know have bought something in the past couple months.
It's what disposable income is for.
Of COURSE it's a conclusion favoured by my bias. I happily admit to a certain bias when it comes to gun ownership.

I wanted some .223 brass as I had ppicked up some cheap bullets and thought I might spend a few warm days coming up sitting in the A/C in the garage and reloading some rounds. All they had was Lake City (military surplus - which I have plenty but dislike as the primer pockets are swaged and a pain to re-prime.)
I was talking to the owner who took time to say hi... I noted that business was good. His reply - he told me how much he had taken in - and it was astounding. Pretty near record sales three months in a row. Christmas in July.
But - for the most part the shelves are stocked. The manufacturers are working overtime to keep supply up with demand...
....
So all of you who hate guns and want to see them go away - sorry.... I don't think people are ready to join the flock of the unarmed..
Not just yet.
And for the "that's just anectdotal" crowd -

It seems the FBI is of the same opinion.
