You will notice, quite plainly, that whenever someone says "All Lives Matter" it is meant as a counter to Black Lives Matter, rather than to prop up Black Lives Matter. Nobody ever says "Yeah, Black Lives Matters! All Lives Matter!" Instead of using it to fight for the likes of George Floyd or Breonna Taylor, they are used to defend the people who took their lives. "All Lives Matter" is an empty sentiment that the people who espouse don't even really believe. Because they aren't bothered by the death of George Floyd or Tamir Rice or Trayvon Martin. They are bothered by the fact that people are speaking out about it. It's pretty language designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator.
And you'll notice quite plainly that people who defend confederate statues have the greatest lack of knowledge of the history they so-claim to defend and care about. Apparently, if there's not a statue of someone -- we won't remember them. That's why we have statues of Hitler and Bin Laden in New York City. It's why everyone got so mad at the Iraqis when they tore down the statue of Saddam Hussein in Iraq. Or when the founding fathers tore down the statue of King George III, they were extremely upset about George Washington doing that. They totally ruined history!
But above all else, you'll find the people most bothered by being called a racist, are the ones who are most racist. They will insist "I'm not racist!" rather than listening to the people who point out their racism to them. They can't bother to actually give a damn about what anyone thinks but themselves. Because in the end, that's all they ever care about, and it's all they will ever care about. Which is why "All Lives Matter" means nothing more than "MY Life Matters". It's why history matters... when it's THEIR history. Ultimately they lack the empathy necessary to care about what other people think. Then they expect others to show empathy toward them.

The whole tone of Church teaching in regard to woman is, to the last degree, contemptuous and degrading. - Elizabeth Cady Stanton
